Matching flowers to containers
Today we have some fun photos from Kathy Schreurs in Sheldon , Iowa .
I ’m going to submit some photos taken last summertime . They are not your distinctive GPOD , although every bloom pictured did indeed fare from my garden .
I love bring with impertinently picked flowers from ourborders , tucking them into my time of origin vessel and teapot , and drop them off — sometimes rather randomly — at the doors of family , champion , and even casual acquaintance . ( I was n’t exactly the disguise bandit , but I certainly was the masked gardener . ) It was almost a daily occurrent through much of last summer . I also posted day-after-day pictures on Facebook , and I wish to trust that they were day brighteners for “ efflorescence friend . ” The day-to-day posts surely hoist my own spirits .

Some days I played with the wall pockets that I collected in the 1980s . It became a challenge to see if I could find appropriate flowers to muse their unique characteristics . Although they never left my house , it was another way of connect with people during the COVID summer of 2020 .
September 28 : Why did I dead realize — the summertime go by without peach pie ? ( Sedum , cosmos , zinnia , hydrangea )
August 20 : Does anyone be intimate the science behind the one - day - only life yoke of a daylily ? ( Daylily and blush wine )

September 4 : The bunny rabbit ears take me by surprisal ! ( ‘ Red Threads’alternanthera , Persian shield , torenia , zinnia )
August 25 : I wanted to bear homage to themarigoldsprotecting my husband’svegetable garden . ( Marigolds and zinnias )
August 14 : What to do with a butterfly bulwark pocket ? possibly this . ( Hydrangea )

August 12 : All because two birds fell in love . ( ‘ Lemon Twist ’ , tansy , Diamond Frost , torenia )
July 28 : This little bulwark pocket has been pull together dust in my garden shed . I need to freshen it up , but I did n’t have any thyme . ( Summerphlox )
August 3 : Monday Funday , aka Wall - Pocket Wacky ( snapdragon , zinnias , dill )

September 13 : In memory of cancan ( coleus and sunpatiens )
August 11 : Three or more of anything is a collection — or so I have read — but only if you have a intent in gather them together . Otherwise you have an accumulation . In the 1980s I had a solicitation of rampart pockets . In the last 25 eld , they ’ve segue into an accumulation , some of them taking up infinite in my garden shed , others lose in a jumble of vases . Today I ’m reclaiming them as a collection . ( Snapdragon , zinnia , cosmos , hosta )
