SixOnSaturday

As predicted , zero horticulture was reach last weekend since were braving the arctic gale on the south coast . It was moth-eaten ! We were squeeze , forced I say , to expend a lot of time in the cocktail saloon at the hotel . this weekend I am not campaign much , we ’re not going anywhere , and the weather does n’t look too bad . I may in reality get some gardening done . Talking of which , time for Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything , you decide !

Here are my Six for this week .

1 – Box , still stuff with lightbulb despite planting some . Mostly tulips , some daffodil , still sitting there minding their own business in the disconsolate interior of a box seat . I desire to swap one dark Department of the Interior for another this weekend , most of them are destined for bath . I have some time , so no excuses .

2 . blush wine pelvis . I ’ve clearly been derelict with my washed-out bloom removal , but my slapdash approach has been rewarded with colourful hips . Is this a message from the gardening gods ?

3 – Canna , give up the ghost . No , I canna believe it either . The leaves are blackened but not yet mush , and the seeded player pods are almost hedehoggian in their appearance . If the tulip planting does n’t translate me sofa - bound , I ’ll cut some stuff back this weekend .

4 – Japanese paint fern , or something like that . Looking very colorful as it point underground for the wintertime .

5 – Rose ‘ Mme Alfred Carriere ’ . Alfie here is still blooming aside , a few days into December . The stems have gone wild and they really involve attach in . Before I can do that I need to put in some more vine - eyes and wires as she has already outgrown the first installment .

6 – Wild animal track . Down one side of the lawn ( which did n’t get it ’s final hayloft when it need it , so will remain unkempt now till the spring ) , there is a track . I used to blame the kids for this , back and forwards with their cycle pre- and post - paper round , but those day are done for now . I now mistrust the Arabian tea , ours believably , beast of habit that they are , and nescient of my cautiously place but not - so - direct way of life .
