There is so much about this photo that I enjoy . First , it was take by one of my favorite gardener , and a frequentcommenteron the GPOD , Deanne Fortnamfrom Nashua , New Hampshire . secondly , this true cedar waxwing is GORGEOUS . Third , find out out the perfect snowflake Deanne do to entrance as it fell ! Fourth , it illustrates that if you set them , they will get . works that acquire berry , that is , and wildlife . Here ’s what Deanne had to say about this photo : “ This bird is a Cedar Waxwing ( Bombycilla cedorum ) and , in my opinion , one of our most beautiful songbird . I took this photograph last Sunday during our tardy coke event and it was feed in a flowering crab apple tree in the planting around one of our local businesses . This tree has been full of yield since declivity and there were n’t any raspberry give in it until a couple calendar week ago . It seems that the fruit has to go through some freeze / thaw cycles before the birds decide it ’s time to eat it . This beauty was in a spate of more than 200 wench and they add up in and stripped every berry off that tree in just a few days . This is distinctive Waxwing behavior . They more often than not trip in large flocks and move into an sphere until they ’ve exhausted the intellectual nourishment supply then move on again . If you have fruiting tree keep a look out and you might see a flock of these beaut flit about with their delicious chatter . A beautiful pot in the wintertime garden if you ’re prosperous enough to get them . ” Amazing , Deanne ! Thanks so much for sharing this little guy rope with us .
Deanne ’s been featured on the GPOD many times ! Check out her late postshere , here , here , here , here , andhere .
