Today ’s photos are from Jane Donelon in Maine . She says,“For the past 50 years I ’ve been living and gardening in Maine . I ’m an avid nurseryman , as are both of my grown children , and we have playfulness gardening together when we visit each other . They ’ve help me with some big projects you ’ll see . I lie with viewing all the garden COLOR you ’ve been sport latterly , but here in Maine , it is still winter … storming alfresco at this very bit ! Although I get it on gardening in every season , I especially prize the lulu that a snowy winter convey to our long time of year . I ’m sending you a few photos of my back garden in wintertime .

“ My garden shed practically disappears beneath the arched , snowfall - laden boughs of the birch rod that thrives in the contiguous bog . The snow makes the vine of clematis , halcyon hop , and wisteria covering the shed look like ice on a cake . After each storm I rush outdoors in hope of conquer the delicate shadows reflected on the tonic snow….like the arbour . Through it you see a gate to the woodland built by my son from driftwood he found at a nearby beach . Nearby is the wild flower circuit my daughter created for me on Mother ’s Day many yr ago . My earliest hellebore is planted here with other spring treasures . This refined hellebore , ‘ Winter Rose ’ , is often in bud in previous December . Its lovely blossom of snowy and pale pink deepen and unremarkably last well into May , form it the foresighted bloom flower in my garden .

“ The sun sets over the back hill where the woodland course carved by my Logos is now covered with deep snow . Below it hydrangea flush loaded with Charles Percy Snow drape toward the stone fireplace . Here I set my indoor plant in the summertime and bird houses in the wintertime . Looking out through my sun porch window is an overview of the unexpended rearward garden from the interior - out on a stormy day .

On the hill behind , solomon seal blooms with azaleas in many vivid shades … COLOR , at last ! ”
