In a Vase on Monday. Stars and Bells.
This week I decided to fill my vase with picayune golden bells ofClematis tanguticaand leave it at that . I cut this clematis back each year , but by the end of the summer it is sprawl everywhere . Still , it urinate quite a prissy picture withAster x frikartii‘Monch ’ .
Having picked the flowers I thought how prissy they would look in my favourite white vase with a frill of the whiteSolanum jasminoideswith its outstanding yellow stamen pick up the yellow of the clematis . I then could n’t stand pop out in a flower or two of the whiteAnemone x hybrida‘Andrea Atkinson ’ .

And then the lovelyColchicum autumnale‘Album ’ has yellow stamens too , so I had to add a couple of these beauties .

Ok , I have never bring forth the knack of less is more .

My preferent aster is ‘ Little Carlow ’ and that has yellow stamens too which I thought would go well . And anyway , why not have stars as well as bell ? I went to a entrancing talk by the plant cleaning lady , Marina Christopher on Saturday . She said that when bee have pollinated the flowers of this aster the stamens change by reversal from yellow to red . I looked at mine and indeed the stamens were all red . I grow a lot of asters , but none of them are so full of bee as this beauty . It is absolutely buzzing .

If you only have room for one aster ( we have to call itSymphyotrichumnow ) I would recommend this one . It is perfectly gorgeous and I can not think why I only have one . I require to fill my garden with it .

To comport on the lilac paper I used a lilac - tingedSolanum laxum‘Creche ar Pape ’ .
As the stamen of ‘ Little Carlow ’ have darken to a deep red which is almost purple , I think a few sprig of the gorgeous darkness purpleSalvia x jamensis‘Nachtvlinder ’ would look good with it .
So that is my vase this Monday .

Cathywho hosts this meme has find fault some nerines for her vase . I have to say , I do n’t think I could bring myself to reduce mine . I obsessively number the buds and flowers in each of my pot . But they do look endearing in a vase . Do go and see .

Very nice display of blooms from the declivity garden . The asters are fabulous !
It ’s astonishing how easily one can be lead wide once one steps into garden and lead off to wander . Still , you picked a terrific colour system and stuck to that ! Your aster are all gorgeous – whatever they ’re call , I bid they grew well for me here . My ‘ Monch ’ has gone missing over the summertime – it could be buried under the rapidly expound Barleria obtusa or it could have decided once and for all that SoCal is inhospitable – I ’ve yet to mount a thrifty lookup . I work before and added another aster , Symphotrichum chilensis , last week but now we have another heatwave , which is n’t a respectable omen . I ’ve present it superfluous water and the protection of its own umbrella and that ’s the best I can do .
