“ I ’ve always had a love for brute and being alfresco and the hard work and wages that arrive from farming , ” says Caitlyn Blom , a Colorado - founder ofHoney Blom Farmsin Knoxville , Tennessee , that she runs alongside her married woman , Ciara Blom .

Since launching the farm in the leap of 2018 , the speculation has gain ground a reputation for its resident toy - donkeys and miniature - Nubian dwarf Goat — both of which have become optic - catching star of the venture’ssocial medium account .

We spoke to Blom about the beginning of Honey Blom Farms and why miniature - donkeys make for such great stock shielder . We also fix the scoop on a little something called goat glamping .

A Family Farming History

Blom says that her interest group in agriculture blend in back around a decade or so ago , when her crime syndicate had “ a small farm that was really push back by my sexual love for animal and gardening . ”

After the family farm speculation was sold , Blom says that she knew she “ always want to have a farm again one day — but I did n’t conceive it would be this quickly ! ”

The Role of Miniature Donkeys

Miniature donkeys play a primal role at Honey Blom Farms , chiefly by pretend as livestock shielder on the premises .

“ When our household had a farm we had a domestic ass who was a guard for our kine , ” recalls Blom . “ Donkeys are just terrific guard animate being and such unique equine in themselves . So two of our mini donkey were the first animals on the farm because I know I wanted them as guardian animals for our Capricorn and volaille . ”

Since the days of those initial two miniature donkeys , Honey Blom Farms has now depart its own breeding program .

Introducing Goat Glamping

Get to Know Clara
