JUNE

Broccoli- Sow seeds early July - mid July . Can handle light frosts . 55 day to harvest .
The shallots will soon be done in this raised bed and I will use it for fall planting
Brassica oleracea italica raab- Sow seeds in other July - mid July . Can handle easy frosts . 45 days to harvest .
Carrots- Sow seeds in other July - mid August . Can manage freezes but must mulch with thick straw or row cover . 70 - 80 days to harvest .
Chard- Sow seeds belated July- . Can handle some light frosts . Cover with row screening when it get cold to put out season . 50 - 60 days to reap .

Lettuces- Lettuce baby- Sow seed in early - August . Kale- Sow more seeds mid August . The brusque coolheaded days of fall are even better for kale than bound . Kale that is lay down will last well into winter and can survive below freeze temperature down into the 20s
OCTOBER
Garlic - Sow big cloves anytime in October after the first frost . Harvest in former - June - July
Shallots - Sow large bulbs anytime in October after the first frost . harvesting in late - June - July .
I ’m not a big buff of kale , endive , escarole and collards , but give way in front and listed them as I know many of you like them . Cabbage and cauliflower take too long to originate for me . Forgetaboutit !
SECOND - WHERE TO PLANT
Do you have garden space close to your house for easy watering and harvest as it gets colder?This is authoritative to consider if your main garden is far away from your nursing home . I have two places to plant them now . My cold-blooded frame and my raise beds up by the mansion . If I ever get my nursery done , I ’ll have another great seat for veggies but for now I ’ll found in my two spaces .

My first outer space is my cold frame up by the house . Since it is too red-hot now , I think I will have to put some shade cloth over it to keep plants cooler inside . Also I want to get one of those automatonlike vent openers that will start the lid if the temps get too hot and close it when it gets too cold .

My second place is the raise beds also up by the theater . Raised beds are great as they keep the soil warmer in the fall when it is getting cooler . Since I already pulled all the garlic in these raised beds , I will implant a few moth-eaten stalwart veg in them and then engraft Allium sativum and shallots between them come October . The dish of having some garden space close to the house is when it does get cold , I wo n’t have to take the air down to the independent garden to urine and harvest . I can just get a watering can and go right outside the house . Also I can replace the light row covert that I keep my cool season craw under ( keeps the critters and bug away ) with a heavy row cover on the bed if a sudden frost comes up . The cool season crops will be pick by the time winter bump off and the garlic and Allium ascalonicum will log Z’s till give !
