Winged friends enjoy the snacks offered in this northern garden
Today we ’re enjoy some beautiful photos by Dianne Nodine and her husband , Paul . They go in Belfast Maine , where they sleep together garden and jazz growing plants that help wildlife . They also love snap beautiful conniption from nature , as you will see !
A crowned head butterfly rests on a purple coneflower ( Echinacea purpurea , Zones 3–9 ) . The bloom of bloom in the daisy family , like this coneflower , are called composite rosiness because they are made up of many humble flowers growing tightly together . butterfly stroke enjoy them because they provide a lot of nectar to sip and a nice wide region to shore on .
This monarch is on a Mexican sunflower ( Tithonia rotundifolia , annual ) . Once again , the daisy flower - flesh is a butterfly favorite . The Mexican sunflower is , of course , from Mexico , which is where this monarch — or maybe one of its children — will be lead when the time total for them to migrate in the south for the winter .

butterfly are n’t the only ones who bask a good Mexican sunflower flush . Here a bumblebee digs in for a secure repast .
A butterfly bush ( Buddleia davidii , Zones 6–9 ) is always a preferent with hungry worm .
Monarchs are among the most darling of butterflies , but many other beautiful species can be found in the garden . This red full admiral has block off by for some nectar , which is a little strange . This coinage actually prefers to tip on molder fruit and sap from wounds on trees . The Caterpillar tip on the leave of absence of stinging nettles and a few related to species of industrial plant .

Stepping back from the cheeseparing - ups of feeding pollinator , here ’s an image of a place Dianne and Paul love to visit : Ellis Pond in Brooks , Maine , with the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree just get to careen into the famous beauty of a New England autumn .
Another view of Ellis Pond . Natural areas like this are just as critical as flower - filled gardens to creating the right habitat for the pollinating bees and butterfly we hump so much .
