Dark . Very benighted . But there were plants that needed redeem so we campaign on . Laura hold up the torch as we cut down cane and travail up what had been a 4′ x 8′ layer of the stuff . Thanks to a mild wintertime , the cane were untouched by rime and deliciously angelical .
I may have pause during the venturesome raid , O reader , to give the children a few pick clump … but I never lost sight of the mission .
Overall , it strike us about an hour of apprehend to remove all of the sugar cane .

Beyond that , we also nabbed a few rosemary bushes ( which I greatly doubt will survive transplanting ) and a nice glob of lemon grass .
On the way out , I could n’t help face through a pile of railway yard waste by the side of the route … and was greatly proud of to let on ( and deliverance ) a freshly dug thump of Jasmine , unwilted with some good ascendant remaining .
We ca n’t save every plant … but we can stress .
